Traffic was backed up on Fifth Street from Beckham to Golden Road, Thursday morning. According to Sgt Tomlin with Tyler PD, a truck was carrying a load of rocks to the empty lot adjacent to the Rogers NHSC when its rear axle fractured, dropping the trailer. Light rain compounded with the accident has led to congestion all around campus
At the scene of the accident, the axle was completely separated from the trailer itself while a crew from Crow’s towing attempted to remove the load from the road. There were no injuries reported.
This is the second construction accident in the last month to occur on campus. On the morning of January 23, a lift overturned at the site of the new dormitories, injuring the worker driving it.
