The clouds were gray and there was fear of rain on May 8, 2020, but nothing was going to hold the Tyler Junior College class of 2020 from being honored for all their hard work and accomplishments.

This year the traditional graduation ceremony was replaced with the first ever Victory Lap around the campus.

  1. That is great! I wish they got to experience graduation the traditional way but this works. I am very proud of 2020 graduates.

  2. Watching this Victor Lap Graduation video just as effective if not better than reading an article about the same. We were able to see directly the alternative method of recognizing these graduates instead of the traditional auditorium event. I hope in the future it is all back to normal, but we know we will be able to come up with some imaginative alternative if necessary.

  4. I had the opportunity to witness the Victory Lap Graduation and despite circumstances, this was the most amazing and heartfelt moment I had experienced in a long time. I saw smiles, tears, excitement and thankfulness from every graduate that drove that lap. I cheered from the side of the road for people I did not know so that hopefully it would bring joy out of a terrible situation. Congratulations class of 2020!

  5. I love that TJC was able to do something for these students despite what is going on. While I’m sure this wasn’t what they thought the end of their time at TJC would be like, I’m sure it was greatly appreciated.

  6. I love this because we never knew how hard it was for a person to achieve this accomplishment and despite of everything going on in the world we need to celebrate things like this.
