The TJC Theatre Department is preparing for a trip to New York City. From May 21-26, theatre students will have the opportunity to visit New York City and experience the iconic theatre scene.
David Crawford, a theatre professor at TJC, recommends the New York trip to students, and said the trip will be a life-changing experience.
“For some of them, they have never been on an airplane before,” Crawford said. “They will see theatre done by professionals for the first time in their life; they will see theatre done in New York for the first time in their life.”
The trip offers a variety of opportunities including a six-day and five-night program that includes a plethora of activities. Students will have the opportunity to attend Broadway shows, stay at a theatre district hotel, and enjoy round-trip airfare from Dallas-Fort Worth.
“Some of the most advanced theatre that I’ve ever seen was done in New York. Until you experience it live, you really don’t have a clue,” Crawford said.

The students will be attending shows, and students will have additional time for sightseeing and exploring the New York atmosphere. Crawford encourages students to create a list of 25 things they want to do in New York based on sightseeing websites. Students will be able to explore their list during their free time on the trip.
Crawford said, the New York trip also provides valuable networking opportunities for aspiring theatre professionals.
“Students will have the chance to interact with actors and actresses after performances, gaining insight into the industry.” They will also participate in an audition workshop and engage with professionals working in the theatre scene.
“The trip’s accommodations will be provided at a boutique hotel in the heart of Times Square. Although it is not a luxurious five-star establishment, the hotel offers convenience and a quiet atmosphere for students to rest and freshen up in-between activities,” Crawford said.
The trip is being organized by Laurent Tours, a renowned travel company specializing in theater tours Laurent Tours offers a variety of travel packages, including single, double, and triple occupancy options.
