Multimedia Journalist
When I look back at my first semester at TJC, I feel entirely different from the person who walked onto campus that day. Fresh out of high school, I was unsure what direction I wanted my life to go. I spent my first year trying out various clubs, but none of them clicked for me.
Then, in my last semester, I joined The DrumBeat. Despite not being a journalism student, The DrumBeat was the most fun I’ve had at TJC. Before TJC, I never imagined myself enjoying working on a newspaper, but my time here has taught me a lot about what I truly enjoy. Working on The DrumBeat while still managing all of my classes was difficult, but seeing each issue be produced made it worth it to me. I’ve learned several skills while at The DrumBeat, such as time management and teamwork, and for that I am grateful.
I am sad I didn’t join the DrumBeat sooner, but I am thankful for everything it has done for me in the short time I have been a part of it. I have grown and changed a lot from my first semester at TJC, and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
