
The Apaches football team kept its winning streak with a score of 40 – 0 against Cisco College, on Oct. 19 at the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
Just over three minutes into the game, the Apaches had a 7-0 lead thanks to a 7-play, 78-yard drive that was completed by a 20-yard touchdown run by running back Bryce Burgess and an extra point by Christian Baxter special teams.
Five minutes and eleven seconds into the game, defensive back Sam Fongang took a 63-yard pick-six to the house to give the team a 14-0 lead.
Shortly afterward, 49 seconds into the second quarter, quarterback Tre Guerra led the Apaches to a 21-0 lead with a 10-play, 76-yard drive.
With 10:55 remaining in the first half, the Apaches regained possession of the ball, and Guerra found wide receiver Terrance Naulings for a 38-yard pick-up that put Tyler ahead 28-0 with 8:34 remaining.
TJC led 28-0 at the half thanks to Tyler.
After five plays and 36 yards, quarterback Nathan Greek found wide receiver Hawk Patrick-Daniels for a 21-yard throw to the corner of the end zone, bringing the score to 35-0.
Cisco’s punter fell with 12:01 left, putting Tyler at Cisco’s 5-yard line and allowing Bryan Ramirez to run back a 20-yard field goal. Cisco then sealed Tyler’s 40-0 victory with 2:23 remaining by snapping the ball out of the back of the end zone for a TJC safety.
Apache football will host the semifinals if the Apaches win the last two games of the regular season, according to Apache Athletics.com.
