
The last day for in-person voting is Nov. 5.
Students registered in another county, have until 7 p.m. Nov 1., the last day of early voting, to vote using a limited ballot. A limited ballot allows citizens to vote on the same races between their old county and Smith County. This also moves registration to Smith County.
To vote in Smith County, a photo ID, like a Texas Driver’s License or a U.S. passport is required. A complete list of the approved ID’s is on Smith County elections website. A TJC issued student ID is not an accepted form of ID.
Voters are restricted from using cellphones or any other electronic device inside voting locations. Pictures and recordings of sounds or images are prohibited in the polling booths. Smith County advises that voters use paper or a sample ballot to note anything of importance before entering the polling place. Citizens can find printable sample ballots on the Smith County elections website.
Campaigning and electioneering are also not allowed within 100 feet of a polling entrance. Campaigning includes hats, buttons, and T-shirts featuring a candidate, either in support or against. Displaying statements, phrases or acronyms concerning a candidate is also restricted.
If assisting or translating expertise is needed, voters are allowed to bring someone as a translator, or assistant and poll workers are open to assisting voters with their needs. Although assistance is allowed, they cannot inform or influence an individual’s vote.
Bell Elementary School is a polling location within walking distance of the TJC Central Campus, located one block south of the Fifth Street HTeaO.
