
The TJC Jazz and Harmony performed together on Nov. 7 in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center for the TJC Jazz group’s final concert of the season.

Jazz 2 started off the concert with “A Nasty Bit of Blues,” followed by a jazz arrangement of Bruno Mars’s “Treasure.” They finished out their section of the concert with “Bye Bye Blackbird,” “La Suerte De Los Tontos” and “Snake in My Boots.”
Harmony entered the stage while singing ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” dressed in sparkling gowns. They left the stage after finishing with “You Make Me Feel So Young,” “Sway,” “Dust in the Wind,” “I Only Have Eyes For You/The More I See You” and “Son-of-a-Preacher Man.”
Alongside jazz classics such as “Bluesette” and “Tour De Force,” Jazz 1 ended the concert with “Boomerang,” “Blackbird,” “A Few Good Men” and “The Refrigerator.”
Micah Bell, the professor of trumpet and jazz at TJC, directs the Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 ensembles.
“Everyone seems pretty into it for the most part. They take pride in, you know, doing well and wanting to do their best,” Bell said.
Next spring, TJC Music will be hosting its 20th annual Jazz Festival. The festival will be a multiple day event featuring dual guest artists, Wayne Bergeron and Barb Catlin.
