Tyler Junior College’s Men’s Basketball team came up short on the road against Weatherford College, losing 97-89.
With five minutes remaining in the first half, TJC held a commanding 39-29 lead, seemingly in control of the game, but Weatherford was able to mount a comeback and close out the half with a 15-4 run. TJC found themselves trailing 44-43 as the buzzer sounded to end the first half.
Weatherford would go on a run to start the second half, and with four minutes left in regulation were in control of a commanding 83-72 lead.
Tyler was able to fight back and cut the Coyote lead to one possession with 30 seconds left, bringing the score to 92-89, but it would be too little too late. Weatherford held on and finished strong, ultimately defeating Tyler 97-89 and handing TJC their second loss of the season.
The Apache’s dynamic North Carolina guard duo of Chris Uwayo Jr. and Caden Bell powered the Tyler offense, each setting new season highs with 20 and 18 points. Forward Josiah Hill also contributed a solid 13 points, respectively.
The Apaches will be back in action this upcoming week as they host Dallas College Cedar Valley (3-1) at 6 p.m. Nov 21 to start a four-game homestand at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
