I can’t believe my time with The DrumBeat has come to an end. It went by way too fast!
I first heard about The DrumBeat Student Media at the end of my Spring 2023 semester from a classmate in my video production class. He was a member of The DrumBeat and asked if I would be interested in joining. However, while I found the offer intriguing, I was nervous that I didn’t have the necessary skills and put off joining for later.

Fast forward to Fall 2024, I finally gained the courage to make the leap and see what it was about. I met so many friendly and helpful people and have learned so much about writing articles, taking photos, and creating broadcast packages.
My first article covered the World of Khaos’s debut of their new haunted house attractions for Halloween 2024. I felt proud seeing my hard work pay off with the story being published in the newspaper and on the broadcast!
While I still have more to learn, I have also become much more confident in myself. I learned not to hold myself back and to take risks, even if I am afraid. As the saying goes, “You Miss 100% of the Shots You Don’t Take.”

Although I have only been a part of The DrumBeat for two semesters, this experience has been very fulfilling. Now that I am about to graduate, I look back wishing I had made the leap sooner. Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity!
