Gravity wins. It was absolutely astounding in Big D 3D. Except for the hair. The hair not floating all wild drove me crazy. Does Vidal Sassoon make product for outerspace?
The Moon Song from the Spike Jonze’s Her is being performed. An absolutely beautiful song to accompany an incredible twist on a love story.
The Moon Song has the best shot at beating Let It Go for Best Original Song in my opinion.
That guy from SNL and Kurt Russell’s step-daughter are presenting best live action short-film. Helium wins.
The Lady In Number 6: How Music Saved My Life wins for Best Documentary – Short.
Totally not ok to cut people off when giving a touching speech about a beautiful old woman who died last week. Most cutoffs are rude, but that was outright disrespectful.
Bradley Cooper wins his scratchoffs and presents the Oscar for Best Feature Length Documentary to 20 Feet From Stardom.

The Great Beauty wins, representing Italy. It’s first since Life Is Beautiful and Roberto Benigni’s amazing acceptance speech.
Madea presents a few more of the Best Picture nominees. The man who gave us Being John Malkovich might just win for Her.
Amy Adams is in ALL the movies this year.
Ellen changed her clothes just to introduce Brad Pitt. Pitt introduces U2’s performance of Ordinary Love.

Ellen is now taking selfies and celebrities are trying to photobomb her like mad. And it has reach full capacity. Jennifer Lawrence just groped Meryl Streep and both were totally ok with it!

All great movies, but Gravity takes another shiny. An Oscar for recreating all the sounds in space…
Sound Editing goes to Gravity as well. So much sound in the vacuum of space!
It should be noted that while the visual effects industry is honored, it is largely offscreen and Oscar winning companies shutter their doors at unprecedented rates due to outsourcing.
Christoph Waltz is here to present Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Unfortunately they can’t use his formula for winning Oscars. Step 1 Be Christoph Waltz. Step 2 Work with Quentin Tarantino.

Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa from Frozen and a Broadway megastar, performing “Let it go!” This woman is so ridiculously talented.
Gravity wins, yet again, for best score.
“Let it Go” wins Original Score. It’s a pity Menzel doesn’t get a trophy because the song is nothing without her amazing voice.
Best Adapted Screenplay goes to 12 Years a Slave.
Best Original Screenplay goes to the incomparable Spike Jonze for Her. Jonze is a true visionary, willing to take risks no one else in Hollywood would dare.
Angelina Jolie and Sidney Poitier present Best Director. Sidney Poitier!!
Cuaron just got an Oscar from Sidney Poitier. It looks like shaking his hand meant more to Cuaron than the Oscar.
Daniel Day Lewis takes the stage and wins an Oscar for showing up! Ok, he’s just presenting Best Actress. Cate Blanchett wins for her role in Blue Jasmine.
They play off a heartfelt tribute to the star of a documentary who just passed, but let that speech rail on for an hour?

The Fresh Prince of Damnation (Will Smith will always be that to me after his bizarre role in Winter’s Tale.) is presenting Best Picture. 12 Years A Slave pulls a surprise win over Gravity. I do believe it’s not quite as shocking as some will say.
The biggest surprise of the night is the telecast ending on time. Well, nearly.
