Dr. Ray Meier on campus

Interested in learning self-defense, yet having fun at the same time? Dr. Ray Meier, a Judo instructor at Tyler Junior College, is offering a Judo class at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for
those ages 6-73.
“Judo can be expressed in one word, which is
fun,” Meier said.
Prices are $49 for a beginner’s class and $110 for intermediate classes per session. Sessions last two months and
are offered January through February and March through April.
Meier has been teaching Judo since 1964 and has taught many classes throughout the years. Meier has been at TJC since June 2019. He aims to “reestablish his class” and raise a dojo of students to compete.
It is his intention to teach his new students to “go on
to participate in state tournaments, national tournaments, and ultimately
in international tournaments, even to the Olympics if
possible,” Meier said.

For anyone who is interested, Meier is located in the Ornelas Health and Physical Education Center. To register for class, visit http://www.kajukai.com, or contact Meier at (903) 747 -7277.
