Drug search at residential dorms at TJC today.

After reports of police dogs around the surrounding dorms by Lake and Baxter Avenue at Tyler Junior College, TJC Campus Police confirms the completion of a random drug checks.

Drugs such as different forms of paraphernalia, and alcohol where found by police but no full reports have been released of all charges and violations at this time, said Chief Randy Melton, director of campus safety.

“Today was a routine of drug sniff, proactive approach by drug dogs through the residential life, it was one of those unscheduled unannounced checks, which is part of our ability to make sure students are save, and a drug free compass,” said Chief Melton.

The drug searches took place through residential life at 10 a.m. till noon by the TJC Campus Police and were assisted by Tyler Police Department, Whitehouse Police, Overton Police K9 unit.

Updates by campus police on citations and arrest will be posted.
