Campus Police responded to two different incidents in which two students were held at gunpoint Wednesday evening, Sept. 21, 2016.
Tyler PD as well as Campus Police responded to the first incident at approximately 7:31 p.m. Wednesday. A TJC student was robbed at gunpoint after being lured into a dark blue Honda sedan on 1414 Magnolia to complete a purchase that had commenced on social media.
The victim stated he was briefly held at gunpoint while one of the three suspects took his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects were described as one black female and two black males. They escaped the scene and were last seen northbound on Beckham.
Tyler Police immediately poured into the area in attempt to find the suspect vehicle. The suspects or the suspect vehicle have yet to be found.
The second incident took place at approximately 9:55 p.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Magnolia. Campus Police responded solely to a call from a male TJC student. Two suspects, described as two black males, reportedly pulled up beside the victim in a black four door Acura vehicle as one of the suspects pointed a rifle at him.
Campus Police sent out the first alerts at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday of the first incident that occurred. The second alert was sent out at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday of the second incident. Both alerts were sent via email and text message to those who are signed up to receive them. These alerts expire after every semester so anyone who is interested in these alerts must sign up every semester to keep receiving these emails and/or text messages.
