The men’s basketball team at TJC is headed for nationals after defeating San Jacinto 72-65 in the final round of the Region 14 Basketball Championships in Jacksonville.
They faced an uphill battle as they were ranked as the No. 7 seed prior to regionals. On Tuesday, they defeated Lee College 90-76. They beat Trinity Valley 81-65 on Thursday. On Friday their opponent (Navarro) was forced to forfeit after they had played an ineligible player during the season.
The NJCAA National Tournament is March 16-21 in Hutchinson, Kansas. It is the first time since 1996 that TJC men’s basketball is going to nationals.
The women’s basketball team also competed in the finals against Trinity Valley, but they lost 65-55, ending their season. Their season ends with a 28-4 record.
