Vehicle vandalism reported citywide

One man is behind bars after causing thousands of dollars in damage to cars across the city early Sunday Morning.

Tyler Police Sergeant Billy Yates said the first call came in around 12:25 a.m. Sunday morning in the 700 block of Hillsboro street with a person who said their car window was shot out with bb’s. The caller gave police a vehicle description of a Mercury Mountaineer with Texas license plate 534-FHV.

While police were at this call a series of about twenty calls came into Tyler Police dispatch describing the same type of vandalism.

Officers later located the vehicle and waited for a person to come back to it. When the person left, police pulled the car over on Front Street and Palmer, north of the TJC campus and arrested a male juvenile.

Sgt. Yates said there were also others involved. Police said more calls could be linked to this crime spree, which at this time totals to $4,000 worth of damage.
