Apaches blow right past Kilgore

KILGORE- The No. 17 TJC Apaches (2-0) made the quick 30-mile drive to take on No. 18 Kilgore College Rangers (0-2) for the rival’s 114th meeting in a non-conference match at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

Sophomore quarterback Randy Price led the Apaches with more than 250 total yards going over the century mark on both rushing and passing. Price threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two.The Apaches started off hot, decimating the scoreboard with 21 points in the first quarter. TJC began its first drive with great field position on a kick return from Lamar Carraway to the KC 39-yard line where Price ran in for a 7-yard TD. Later in the first, the Apaches defense recovered a fumble setting up Leroy Dobbins for his only TD of the game.

To end the first quarter 6’3, freshman wide receiver Joshua Reynolds found the end zone on a 40-yard snag thrown by Price. Reynolds finished the game with 101 receiving yards to go along with two TD’s. Kilgore eventually put 10 points on the board in the second quarter off of a Ladaerix Payton 13-yard pass from QB Tanner Tausch and a field-goal from kicker Luis Sanchez.

KC could not keep the yellow flag off the field, receiving 10 flags for more than 70 yards. TJC proceeded to keep tallying 35 points in the second half to earn their second win of the season 56-24. Apache WR Terrance Taylor got in on the acting rushing for 82-yards and two TD’s along with Cole Staudt with the solo TD.
