With an 11-2 victory against Hinds (Miss.) Community College on Friday, the TJC men’s soccer team clinched a berth in its fifth-straight national tournament.
Martin Agredo scored five goals for the Apaches (16-2) in the South District semifinal game to give the team a spot in the tournament, which will be held Nov. 18-23 at Pat Hartley Field on the TJC campus.
The Apaches, ranked No. 3 nationally, have won three of the last four national championships and will have the opportunity to win the school’s 50th national title on their home field.
Since two representatives from the South District advance to the national tournament, there was not a championship game played. Either San Jacinto or Pearl River (Miss.) will receive the other bid.
Also scoring for the Apaches in the game were Nazeem Bartman, who had three goals, Rayon Gibbs, Fernando Castellanos, Ousmane Sangray as they outshot Hinds 23-3.
