The Rose City Fiesta is a celebration that took place on Oct. 12, which involved music, vendors, folkloric dancers and more entertainment. There is an emphasis on the influences that Hispanic and Latino culture have around society. The end of National Hispanic Heritage Month has taken place as it started Sept. 15 and ended on Oct. 15.
The Tyler Hispanic Business Alliance and the City of Tyler came together to celebrate this culture. There was a focus on understanding the celebration is not limited to the one month period, but continues after.
To keep the culture alive, the Rose City Fiesta hosted games that allowed younger children to be involved with some of the entertainment. A clown from La Familia Lamas Chiflada encouraged children and gave out prizes they could take home.
The Tyler Hispanic Business Alliance announced another upcoming event on Oct. 24 as the grand opening of the Dia De Los Muertos art exhibition celebrating the culture of Hispanics and Latinos. It is located on 113 W Ferguson Street in Tyler, and will be open from 6 to 7 p.m. It will continue to be open until Nov. 14 and will exhibit an array of art sent in by high school students across East Texas.
