Update:
A recent TJC Alert announced that all TJC Campus Locations will be closed on Monday. The alert advised students to “be cautious during this winter weather”. For more updates on the winter storm, please visit https://tjc.edu/.
With the national weather service declaring an active weather alert for the incoming winter storm, TJC has issued a series of alerts and procedures for both on and off campus residents. Here is what you need to know to make it through this weekend as according to the TJC Residential Life & Housing and Campus PD:
1. Check emails and socials
TJC has highly recommended that all students confirm or update their emergency alert system. These emergency alerts can be found in apache access under the general tab. Alongside this students have also been urged to check their emails, the TJC social media page, and the TJC website for updates surrounding the storm and the current state of emergency.
2. Fully Charge electronic devices by this Friday afternoon
Ensure all important devices such as phones, laptops, tablets, rechargeable flashlights, and any other of importance as there is a chance campus could lose power for an undeterminable amount of time.
3. The Apache Junction Dining Hall WILL maintain its weekend schedule but with limited quantities
For any student staying on campus the Apache Junction Dining Hall will remain open during the weekend with their usual hours of 9 AM-1:30 PM and 5 PM-7 PM. However according to dining hall staff food is expected to be in limited quantities with simpler rations such as sandwiches. All residents will be updated if Monday hours are adjusted based on the storm.
4. Residence Hall staff will be available throughout the weekend
All residence hall staff will be available in the case of a power outage or emergency. They can be found in the respective lobbies of their halls if not immediately available in their rooms. As according to Housing, Staff are ready to handle situations like this and can provide important information and resources to their residents.
In another email from Campus PD: “Due to anticipated ice, power outages, storm debris, and for the safety of students, and employees, all TJC locations (minus the Apache Junction Dining Hall) will be closed, and classes will be canceled on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25. 2026. Any updates regarding campus operations on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 will be communicated separately once school officials access the conditions over the weekend.”
The office of TJC Residential Life and Housing has encouraged students to head home early today and make any last minute preparations needed to make it through this weekend. However, Residential Life and Housing realizes students may not be able to do so and affirm that campus staff are ready to work with on campus residents to be as comfortable as possible throughout the storm.
